BOXING AND BEAUTY
BRING CARIBCOMMX INTO 2010
World-class international sport will dominate the coverage of CaribCommx in 2010 as we enter our eighth year. The World Cup in South Africa, the cricket Twenty 20 World Cup in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, and a full programme of international athletics culminating in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi will be previewed, reported and reviewed in their place. Before all of that happens, however, there is some interesting heavyweight boxing to start the year.
Wladimir Klitschko will defend his various world championship belts against Eddie Chambers at the Esprit Arena in Duesseldorf on 20th March. David Haye is scheduled to defend his WBA version of the title against John Ruiz at the M.E.N.A. arena in Manchester on 3rd April. Audley Harrison will challenge Albert Sosnowski for the European crown on 9th April. Although Frank Warren’s show at Wembley Arena on 13th February is the first in line Danny Williams’ withdrawal leaves Derek Chisora without an opponent at the moment.
There is news on all the major heavyweights fight on our page Boxing.
Photographs of Klitschko v Chambers are by courtesy of Jan Ovelgoenne.
Our pages will have beauty as well as brawn. Yolanda Gqomo, the newly-elected Miss Caribbean and Commonwealth, opens her programme of activities by being received by the Mayor of Hillingdon,Council Shirley Harper-O’Neill, at the Civic Centre on Friday 12th February. There will soon be some other important news about the title.
Shortly we shall announce some wipe-sweeping changes to our layout and presentation, the most sweeping since the launch. CaribCommx will be joined by some established writers and encouraging and developing new talent in journalism.
Keep an eye out for us.
CaribCommx looks forward to meeting even more of our readers in 2010.

London College of Fashion MA show 2010
The star-studded audience matched the students' collections for sass and style.
Hilary Alexander’s report in the Daily Telegraph has particular interest for CaribCommx readers.
“The show also produced a shining star in terms of footwear and leatherwork, in the shape of Rob Goodwin, whose "elephant" mask, unicorn-helmet, knee-boots and shoes, for Sophie Condie, demonstrated his mastery of hand-craft.
Goodwin worked in the TV industry for 10 years, before taking his MA at the LCF, and takes his inspiration from traditional Venetian culture and the Congo. He has recently worked closely with the legendary shoe designer, Terry De Havilland, and been commissioned by British and Italian Vogues.
Goodwin will be exhibiting his work alongside fellow MA Artefact students at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London WC2, February 2nd-5th”
Rob Goodwin is not only the son of CaribCommx directors Clayton and Hopelyn Goodwin but when he was still at grammar school he designed our Logo.
